Whose Life Is It Anyway?

France is still mourning her dead.
130 innocent lives
Taken before their time.
Violence begetting violence.
More raids in Syria.
More innocents will die.
When will it end?
Where will it end?
Nations rising in anger
Armies and bombs
and children's dolls.
A lethal mix.
Tensions rise.
Borders encroached.
A plane shot down.
When will it end?
Where will it end?
Meanwhile in Israel
Another innocent dies, unnoticed.
A child run down
And shot in the gutter.
A settler killing for what?
Fear of a knife?
Or fear of the dispossessed?
When will it end?
Where will it end?
What will it take to end the madness
What will it take to avert the war?
Is that even possible?
When will it end?
Where will it end?
Can we ever be secure again?
130 in Paris in one day
Killed with evil intent
In the name of The Prophet
In retaliation, perhaps.
Ideological, religious, political
for sure.
Radicalised islam or Caliphate?
Islamic State, IS, ISIS or ISIL?
Just plain Daesh if you please.
I hear an echo of suffering
Passing through the mists
of our forgetfulness.
Was it only two summers ago?
Operation Protective Edge:
8 Israeli's killed by rockets;
2220 Palestinians slaughtered.
Radicalised Zionists or JSIL?
Just plain Israel if you please.
When will it end?
Where will it end?

Reflections

So the world has changed.  The mindless violence in Paris, driven by religious fervour, has brought into sharp focus the warped values that seem to flow too freely, leaving each one of us with deep concerns about the future our children will inherit.

I have never blogged before, never really saw the point. But now and over the coming weeks and months I'll be clarifying my thoughts and understanding of what's going wrong in the world, and what can we do to start to make it better...
